Hope 2008

The Vision for HOPE 2008 - Churches across the United Kingdom are constantly at work serving and communicating with 58 million residents and many visitors to the United Kingdom. HOPE proposes to support this work, by facilitating intensified, united, focused prayer and a year of activities, communicating the Gospel through words and actions, creating a lasting legacy of bothe physical and spiritual change in the lives of communities and individuals.

There are five main events or times for HOPE 2008 in Northampton.

1. Fresh Hope, January - There is a planned prayer walk on 5th January across the town. It will last between 11am and noon. The aims will be to Encourage, Influence, Honour and Be God centred.

2. Big Hope, March - There is a plan for a town procession.

3. Hope of the Streets, 1-11th May - This is part of a national plan to have 1,000,000 acts of kindness in the communities of Britain. There would be a special program of prayer in the lead up to this. There is also a special event for Pentecost Sunday around the Bandstand in the park.

4. Hope Explored, September - The plan is to have a Christian festival in the town for seven days. There will be small and large events hosted by the various churches within the town. One of the aims would be to encourage people to join courses such as Alpha / Christianity Explored and encourage people to find out more about the Christian faith.

5. The Gift of Hope, December - This will end the year by focusing on the real meaning of Christmas. Churches would be involved with local communities about decoration for Christmas including Nativity scenes in local shops.
