The Assistant Youth Worker - John Spence
Hello my name is John I was thrilled to be offered the Job as the Assistant Youth Worker with responsibility for Outreach, and after considerable prayer and counsel was thrilled to accept it. It is going to be a very challenging but hopefully rewarding role and one of the big up sides is that I get to stay here in Moulton.
Well what will the work look like? What will I be doing? Surrounding the young people of today is a world which offers immediate pleasures, it demands that we live for ourselves. It tells them to have worth they must be successful, rich and famous, that if you try hard enough anything is possible. Our mission is to stand against the flow of the world: we are charged like Paul charges Timothy in 2 Timothy 4 that in the power and presence of Jesus Christ we are to preach the word!
This next year I want to encourage the church in our mission of stepping out in faith, being servants in God’s work of spreading the Good news of Jesus in this community.
In this year I want us to encourage, train and equip each other to build and strengthen relationships, to take the gospel into the community here in Moulton.
On one hand it is a scary task, on the other a privilege and an undeserved honour to take out the good news. My prayer is we take it with both hands and step out in faith.
